John Dies is an experienced trial attorney and a former partner from a well-respected litigation firm based in Houston, TX. He has represented hundreds of clients and tried cases to verdict throughout the United States.

John specializes in rehabilitating audits where a taxpayer or other service provider requires alliantgroup’s help after the IRS or taxing authority has announced the intent to issue a total disallowance or negative result. He has extensive experience in several specific areas of tax, including audit and credit defense, captive insurance compliance, controversy services, domestic and international tax planning and tax exempt services.

  • Represented a national grocery chain that faced sizeable payroll penalties
    Result: The defense provided by alliantgroup, led by Mr. Dies, resulted in the corporation saving in excess of $500,000 in penalties.
  • Represented a yacht owner who faced a large assessment associated with hobby losses.
    Result: Mr. Dies oversaw the defense that restored the assessment to $0 and the tax return was accepted as filed.
